12.20.2023

Four distinguished doctors from Carolina NeuroSurgery & Spine Associates (CNSA) have received the prestigious Top Doctor designation from South Park Magazine. This honor recognizes their outstanding contributions to the field of neurosurgery and physical medicine and rehabilitation. Let's take a look at the remarkable careers of these exceptional physicians: Dr. Tony Asher, Dr. Hunter Dyer, Dr. Martin Henegar, and Dr. John Welshofer

Neurosurgery, Dr. Tony Asher

Dr. Tony Asher, a board-certified neurosurgeon with over 27 years of dedicated service, specializes in neuro-oncology, skull-base surgery, stereotactic surgery, trigeminal neuralgia, and minimally invasive spine surgery. His commitment to advancing neurological surgery extends beyond his clinical practice, as he serves as the president-elect of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS). Dr. Asher’s dedication to surgical quality outcomes is evident in his leadership of national cooperative clinical databases, contributing significantly to the advancement of neurosurgical care.

Neurosurgery Dr. Hunter Dyer

As a physician leader at CNSA for two decades, Dr. Hunter Dyer has been instrumental in transforming the practice into one of the largest and most respected neurosurgical practices in the country. His integral role in CNSA's growth includes overseeing specialists in physiatry, orthopedic surgery, anesthesia, pain management, and neurology. Dr. Dyer, who completed his neurosurgical training in Dallas, Texas, emphasizes compassionate and comprehensive care for neurosurgical patients.

Neurosurgery, Dr. Martin Henegar

Dr. Martin Henegar specializes in the treatment of brain tumors, complex spinal surgery, and pediatric neurosurgery. His expertise extends to spinal and cranial endoscopy, as well as stereotactic and functional neurosurgery. Recognized for being exceptionally knowledgeable and attentive, Dr. Henegar takes the time to listen to patients' concerns during appointments, ensuring a thorough and unrushed experience. Patients appreciate his personalized approach, as he treats each individual as if they are his sole focus for the day, prioritizing their well-being and advocating for non-surgical interventions before considering more invasive measures.

Physiatry, Dr. John Welshofer

Inspired by a high school friend's paralysis after a severe motor vehicle collision, Dr. John Welshofer chose to become a physiatrist to focus on restoring function and capabilities through holistic medical approaches. Joining CNSA in 2005, Dr. Welshofer sees being a physician as a vocation, aiming to personally care for each patient. He finds joy in being part of patients' life stories and strives to make every encounter a positive experience filled with smiles, laughter, and encouragement.
