A New Ally For Brain Cancer Patients
Nurse Navigator Will Help Coordinate Care

Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates is pleased to welcome Renee Kelly, RN, as the first brain cancer nurse navigator for the practice. From the moment a patient is diagnosed with cancer, Renee will be available to answer questions, help schedule treatments, coordinate care and improve communication between specialists providing care and services including neurosurgeons, radiologists, pathologists and oncologists.

“Patients are easily overwhelmed with their situation and the amount of information they have to process. My goal is to simplify their lives as much as possible when it comes to their treatment,” said Renee.

The position is made possible by a three-year grant from the Brain Tumor Fund for the Carolinas, a nonprofit organization founded by retired Bank of America executive Jim Palermo and Carolina Neurosurgery & Spine Associates neurosurgeon Anthony Asher, M.D.
